Why do I run? I run because I love to feel the release of energy, relaxation, excitement and peace. When I run, it feels like i can run forever. I am not sure if it is because I want a break from the household chaos, or just to release some stress. I began serious running last summer when my friend ask me to run a 10 mile run with her. After the run I felt so good that I signed up for the NY city half marathon. I felt so good after that run, but i decided marathons were out of the question.
My body is getting old, lots of pain in the knees and feet. The doctor told me I should stop running and find another avenue of exercise. I tried other exercises, but nothing compares to a runners high….
Love to run:)
I love to run because no matter how i’m feeling before the run, i ALWAYS feel stronger afterwards! It allows me to focus on my own thoughts for the time period that i am running and i return renewed, destressed, and feeling pretty good most of the time. I have also found that it is more of a mental thing for me rather than a physical thing. As long as i am mentally prepared for the run, and have ammunition from my life to keep my thoughts going, i could forget about my feet and legs and run forever!
I run because it’s the only thing I can control in my life. I have two sons, one who at the moment has special needs. Two dogs, a busy husband, a full time job. Running is the only thing I can do for me right now. And I can’t afford a gym membership and I wouldn’t have time to go anyway. So at 8 or 9 at night I hope on the treadmill and hammer out the miles. It’s the best part of my day. So, I guess I run because it’s the only thing I do for myself. And as a result, I am a better mom and wife.
