So, this is my Gateway Challenge. Currently I have two different challenges that I would like to throw out to anyone who is looking for some way to get themselves started on regular physical activity. Will either of these challenges magically melt away the pounds? Well, no. That’s not exactly the aim here. The idea is to get everyone I know and don’t know active. To get people moving again, and maybe, just maybe turning a few of you skeptics into runners. I throw this challenge out to anyone, whether I know you or not.
If you want to start somewhere, but just don’t know how, try either one listed below…all I ask is that is that you commit. Commit to doing it from beginning to end and then let me know how it went. Keep track of your walks (it’s easy to do at dailymile.com or simply keep a chart). Over the course of 30 days you will see improvements on how you feel about your walks.
Challenge I – 30 in 30
30 in 30 is 30 miles in 30 days. You should try to walk 1 mile every day. If you miss a day, don’t worry about it, just don’t double up the next day. Simply try to make it up a little at a time over the course of the week. Ideally though, you walk 1 mile, every day for 30 days. It should take you anywhere between 15 – 30 minutes. I’m not asking you to power walk (though you are welcome to), I just want you moving.
If that seems too easy, then try:
Challenge II – 30 in 3
No, not 30 miles in 3 days. 30 miles in 3 weeks. Walk 2 miles, 5 days a week for 3 weeks. This gives you 2 days off every week. Each walk should take you between 30 – 60 minutes.
Let me know if you plan on taking the challenge and then how you do, whether it’s through comments below or via email: runluaurun.
Who knows, maybe some of you will be out running me next year!!!
